Professor Indraneel Mittra
Indraneel Mittra is the Director General and Head of the Division of Oncology of the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre in Bhopal, India. He has wide ranging interests in both fundamental and public health research in cancer.
Before taking up his current position Professor Mittra was the Head of the Surgical Breast Service at the Tata Memorial Cancer Centre in Mumbai. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and holds a Ph.D degree in cancer biology from the University of London. He is also a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy and the Indian Academy of Sciences. He was the founder Principal Investigator of a randomized trial funded by a RO1 grant from the NCI involving 150,000 women which compared physical examination of the breast and visual inspection of the cervix with no screening. He is currently Chairman of the Challenge Fund.
Prof. Mittra is on the Editorial Board of Lancet Oncology, British Journal of Cancer, Nature Clinical Practice Oncology, Critical Reviews in Haematology / Oncology, Journal of Biosciences and has authored nearly 100 papers in the field of cancer.
