Professor Roberto Orecchia, MD
Roberto Orecchia is Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Milan and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the European Institute of Oncology, Milan. His research and scientific activity has focused on Cancer of the head and neck, prostate, breast and lung. He is interested in the implementation of new techniques in 3D Conformal Radiotherapy, intra-operative radiotherapy and endovascular brachytherapy.
He is a member of various scientific societies in Europe, Since 2002, he has been the President of the AIRO (Italian Association for Radiation Oncology) He is also a Member of the Board of ESTRO (European Society Therapeutic Radiology Oncology). He is currenly President of the Scientific Committee of the National Centre for Hadrontherapy. He is Vice-President of TERA and an Honorary member of GLAC/RO (Latin-American Group of Brachytherapy and Radiation Oncology). He is also Invited speaker of the European School of Oncology advanced courses and a supervisor for post-doctoral training in Radiation Oncology for IAEA fellows (International Atomic Energy Agency) at the European Institute of Oncology.
He is Editor-in-chief of the Continuing Medical Education Series of AIRO (books published yearly on various topics in oncology) and author or co-author of over 150 scientific papers and 32 chapters in textbooks.
