Terminal disease A Disease that cannot be cured and will cause death.
Testicular self-examination (TSE) A simple manual self-examination of the testes to check for lumps and changes.
Thoracentesis (Pleural tap) A procedure to remove fluids from the area between the two layers (pleura) covering the lung.
Thrombocytopenia An abnormally low number of platelets (thrombocytes). If the platelet count is too low, bleeding could occur.
Tonsils A part of the body found at the back of the throat. They consist of lymphoid tissue and become swollen during an infection.
Trachea The rigid tube that connects the mouth with the bronchi (windpipe).
Tracheostomy A surgical opening through the trachea in the neck to provide an artificial airway.
Transparency Directive EU directive to make drug pricing and cross country reimbursement decisions more quickly.
Tubules Small tubes which carry fluid, eg. Urine in the kidney
Tumour An abnormal overgrowth of cells. Tumours can be either benign or malignant.
Tumour Markers. Substances which are produced either by the tumor itself or by the body in response to the presence of cancer or certain noncancerous conditions. Tumour markers can often be detected in abnormal amounts in the blood, urine, or body tissues.
