Fine-needle aspirate A procedure in which a needle is inserted into a tissue under local anesthesia, to obtain a sample.

Fistula An abnormal opening between two areas of the body.

FOB test See Hemoccult test.

Free radicals Harmful molecules that occur in the body. They can cause cell damage and can lead to diseases such as cancer and heart disease.

Frozen section A technique in which tissue is removed by the surgeon and then quick-frozen (or snap-frozen) to be examined under a microscope.
